Terminal Building Refurbishment
BLB Surveyors
is pleased to have been appointed to carry out a Feasibility Study for various restoration options to the MAIN TERMINAL BUILDING at SHOREHAM AIRPORT.
The Listed Grade II structure is a landmark Art Deco building which was opened in 1936, some 26 years after the airport was first used.
Shoreham Airport's main claim to fame is that it is the oldest licensed airfield in the UK.

BSUH
Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust is carrying out alterations to the Oncology Unit at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. BLB Surveyors has been appointed to undertake Building Surveying Services for the works, which include the provision of new consulting rooms and re-planning of the Consultants' Office accommodation.
Domestic Rewires Programme
BLB Surveyors has now completed the eighth year of an ongoing programme of Domestic Rewires for Lewes District Council's entire housing stock. The contract is carried out under a Partnering arrangement between the Council, BLB Surveyors and EDF.
To date 1,175 properties have been completed and tenant satisfaction returns are 99.8% "Excellent". The Partnership operates under a "no blame" culture with all three parties focused on the concerns and needs of the tenants who, in all but a handful of special cases, have remained in occupation during the works.
Adrian Woolridge, Housing Contracts Manager at Lewes District Council, comments-
"I have just been updating a spreadsheet of works carried out and I am pleased to say that our partnering contract has completed 1,175 installations to date - that is more that 1/3 of all LDC properties. Great progress! A credit to all of us with mostly excellent tenant satisfaction."
New Projects
Ashford Gateway Plus
BLB Surveyors, along with architects Burns Guthrie & Partners, have been appointed by Kent County Council to act on the proposed new Ashford Gateway Plus project in Ashford, Kent. The new building will incorporate library facilities as well as training rooms, function suites, activity areas and civil ceremony rooms. The project has a construction budget of £5.8million.
Worthing Hospital
The Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust has appointed BLB Surveyors to act as Building Surveyors on the refurbishment of 3 wards at Worthing Hospital with a project construction budget of £800,000.
ITM Ltd
ITM Ltd has appointed BLB Surveyors to provide Quantity Surveying Services on the proposed extensions and refurbishment of their production facility at Bell Lane, Uckfield. ITM Ltd provide instrumentation and monitoring services to civil engineering projects in the UK and provide light engineering, calibration and repair facilities at the workshops which will undergo extensive refurbishment.
Lewes Priory
BLB Surveyors is delighted to continue our historic buildings work in Lewes, Sussex. Following our work on Lewes Castle, we have recently been appointed by Lewes Priory Trust to act on the Representation works at Lewes Priory.

BLB Chartered Engineers
BLB Surveyors are pleased to announce the setting up of BLB Engineers Ltd which provides structural and civil engineering consultancy services.
BLB Engineers will be headed by David Smart B.Eng(Hons) C.Eng. MIStructE, who many of you will already know, having been involved in construction projects locally at Engineer and Director level for some 30 years in both the public and private sectors.
BLB Engineers will add to the comprehensive range of in-house construction related consultancy services already provided by the BLB Group. However,the new company will also operate as a 'stand alone' consultancy offering clients a wide range of expertise in a variety of fields including residential, commercial, industrial and retail, with a particular specialism in social housing.
David says:- "I see the new company not only as a refreshing opportunity to continue to provide a quality service to both existing and new clients, but also as a way of contributing to the ongoing success of the BLB Group."
